City Books


City Books was bought in early 2015 by writer, editor, and Washington & Jefferson professor Arlan Hess. It will reopen in Brookline in the South Hills after three decades on East Carson Street. 750 Brookline Boulevard.

"Re-opening mid-summer [2015] with a fresh new look and mission, City Books will carry a general selection of books — new & used, collectible & rare, English & Spanish — for diverse readers at all levels."

History


City Books is a fine used bookshop that was run by a Duquesne University philosophy professor on the South Side for 30 some years. Located at 1111 E Carson Street, City Books hosted poetry group workshops, a St John’s “Great Books” alumni discussion group, and Bloomsday readings.
